A five-member Trinamool Congress (TMC) delegation is scheduled to meet with the Election Commission today to address concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. The delegation plans to raise issues related to the SIR and other pertinent matters. Election Commission officials have defended the SIR, citing the presence of ineligible individuals who have managed to obtain voter IDs. The opposition alleges that the exercise could disenfranchise genuine voters, potentially benefiting the ruling party. The Election Commission will conduct an intensive review of voter lists in six states, starting with Bihar, to identify and remove foreign illegal immigrants. This move is particularly significant in light of actions taken against illegal immigrants from countries including Bangladesh and Myanmar.
