A dramatic incident unfolded at the Purnia district court in Bihar on Thursday, involving a husband and wife. The husband, who was present for a court date, was assaulted by his wife and her family members. Following the assault, the wife and her relatives forcibly took the husband away in front of onlookers. No one intervened to stop them. The couple has been embroiled in a dispute for the past year.
The man, a resident of the Sarsi police station area in Purnia, had married a woman from the Ufrel area under the Maranga police station. After a year of marriage, conflicts arose between them. The woman’s family alleges that the husband and his father are alcoholics, leading her to leave and return to her parents’ home. Conversely, the husband’s lawyer stated that the man had filed an application with the police family center to restore their marital life.
However, the woman refused to reconcile. Subsequently, a case was filed in family court, where mediation attempts were unsuccessful. When the man appeared for another court date, the woman initiated a physical altercation and then forcibly took him away. The wife accuses her husband of remarrying and demands the return of dowry money if he wishes to reconcile.
