Yellow Metal Falls Nearly ₹2,000 on MCX; Silver Drops Too
Gold’s intra‑day decline on the MCX was steep on September 17, with the October contract opening at ₹1,50,513 per 10 grams and quickly moving to ₹1,50,483 – a fall of almost ₹2,000 from the previous session’s ₹1,52,470 close.
The metal later settled at ₹1,50,817, showing a net loss of ₹1,653. Silver was not immune; the December contract started at ₹2,32,301 per kilogram, slipped to ₹2,30,221, and by late morning was quoted at ₹2,32,200, down ₹2,586 for the day.
Physical gold prices mirrored the futures market. 24‑carat gold traded at ₹1,52,840 per 10 grams, down ₹600, while 22‑carat fell to ₹1,40,100, a ₹550 decrease. The 18‑carat segment was at ₹1,14,630, down ₹450.
Spot gold on the global market fell 1.2 % to $4,240.1 per ounce, pressured by a stronger U.S. dollar that makes the metal more expensive for foreign‑currency buyers.
