The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a ‘GST Savings Festival’ to be held across India from September 22nd to September 29th. Instructions have been given to each Member of Parliament (MP) to conduct foot marches in every market within their respective constituencies. During a Sunday address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed GST reforms, stating that they have realized the vision of ‘One Nation, One Tax.’ He mentioned that the next generation of GST reforms would be implemented with the sunrise on the first day of Navratri.
He stated that the GST Savings Festival is set to commence, promising increased savings and easier access to desired goods. The initiative is expected to benefit the poor, the middle class, youth, farmers, women, shopkeepers, traders, and entrepreneurs across the country. The Prime Minister extended congratulations to the nation’s families for this savings festival.
Earlier this month, the 56th GST Council meeting decided to rationalize GST rates by merging the 12% and 28% rates into two slabs of 5% and 18%.
