A video circulated widely on social media, capturing a BJP leader in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, assaulting a Dalit engineer with a shoe. The incident occurred at the local electricity department, where the BJP leader is also alleged to have used caste-based slurs. The victim, identified as Superintending Engineer Lal Singh, reported that approximately two dozen individuals stormed his office and attacked him without provocation. Among the assailants was identified former BJP Divisional President Munna Bahadur Singh. The footage shows Singh shouting at officials, initially attempting to manhandle the engineer before retrieving a shoe and repeatedly striking him. The engineer stated that Singh and his supporters attacked him without any justification, hitting him with a shoe and punching him. Conversely, Munna Bahadur Singh claimed he was at the office to submit a complaint regarding frequent power outages in nearby villages. He alleged that the engineer verbally abused them when they threatened a sit-in protest.
