BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh has called for the immediate resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following the alleged gangrape in Kolkata. Ghosh stated that the incident exposed the character of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and their perceived disregard for women. He cited the rising number of atrocities against women in the state, placing blame on the Chief Minister’s leadership. Ghosh criticized Banerjee’s response to such incidents as being lenient, which, he argued, emboldens criminals. He also referenced the controversial remarks made by Kalyan Banerjee regarding the incident and demanded that the accused be brought to justice. The alleged gangrape took place at the South Calcutta Law College, and police have arrested three individuals in connection with the case.
