BJP Readies for Rajasthan Elections, Cites Development Across All Seats

On August 5, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat reached Jodhpur for a one‑day schedule, using the occasion to address both political and economic issues. He dismissed former Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot’s recent visit as lacking any “magical” effect, stating, “I have just arrived and I see no sorcery in the city.”

Shekhawat then shifted focus to the upcoming Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections in Rajasthan. He expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party would obtain a “clear mandate” from the electorate, promising that the party’s emblematic lotus would again thrive.

The minister highlighted the work of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, alleging that development initiatives have reached every assembly constituency in the state, thereby laying a strong foundation for the BJP’s electoral campaign.

In addition to political messaging, Shekhawat lauded the India‑UK Free Trade Agreement, describing it as a historic achievement for India’s economy and a catalyst for Rajasthan’s export‑driven sectors such as engineering, handicrafts and leather. He noted that around 99% of Indian products destined for the UK are now duty‑free.

He cited the immediate trade impact: exports to the United Kingdom rose to $14 crore on the first day after the pact became operative. The minister also highlighted the mobility pact within the agreement, which will simplify visa procedures for Indian entrepreneurs and skilled workers seeking opportunities in Britain.
