Blue Drum Murder: Patiala Woman Strangled, Body Dumped Near DMW Bridge

In a chilling discovery, Patiala police recovered the body of a woman from a blue plastic drum near the DMW bridge on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Neha of Gopal Colony. Forensic examination confirmed death by strangulation, with ligature marks found on the neck. Investigators believe the killer placed the body inside the drum to hide the crime before attempting to dispose of it near the bridge. DSP Jagjit Singh Randhawa said Neha left home on Tuesday carrying her mother’s phone. Relatives initially assumed she would return, as she had done in the past. Concern grew only after she remained missing overnight. Police have registered a case and are searching for those responsible. Neha had been divorced and was living apart from her former husband. Officers are investigating whether the separation played any part in the murder, though no concrete link has emerged yet. The estranged husband has neither been cleared nor implicated at this stage. The post-mortem report has been completed and the body released to the family. Police continue to examine multiple leads and have assured the public that arrests will be made at the earliest.
