Jabalpur Airport was the target of a bomb threat delivered via email, sparking widespread panic throughout the airport. The email claimed explosives were hidden within the terminal and would detonate imminently. Responding swiftly, police and security forces evacuated the terminal and deployed bomb disposal and fire teams. After an extensive three-hour search, no suspicious devices or explosives were discovered. Khamaria police station has initiated an investigation, registering a case against an unidentified individual. In related news, IndiGo has announced the suspension of its Jabalpur-Bhopal flights due to low passenger numbers, with the final flight operating on Tuesday. This route cancellation adds to a trend of flight suspensions from Jabalpur, affecting six major routes, including Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Pune. Despite a significant investment of approximately Rs 450 crore to expand the airport, the consistent decrease in aircraft operations presents a considerable challenge. The cancellation of flights continues to hinder Jabalpur’s air service capacity, leading to significant inconvenience for travelers.
