A Brazilian model, Larissa Nery, has humorously responded to her image being featured in a controversy surrounding alleged voter fraud in Haryana, India. Politician Rahul Gandhi had presented her photograph, claiming it appeared on the voter roll 22 times under various names, suggesting electoral irregularities. Nery, in a video shared on Instagram, expressed her surprise and amusement at her old photograph being used in an Indian electoral context. She noted that the picture shows her as a much younger person, around 18-20 years old, and was perplexed by its use to represent an Indian voter. Nery mentioned receiving calls from reporters and direct messages on social media regarding the incident, highlighting the unexpected turn of events. This controversy gained traction when a politician shared a tweet showcasing the model’s image in relation to the alleged voter fraud. Media investigations also uncovered a voter named Poonam, whose voter ID correctly matched her photograph (Larissa’s image), and who confirmed she had indeed voted in the Haryana polls. The opposition party has since criticized the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of disseminating false information to discredit the Election Commission of India.
