Raipur, June 14, 2025/
Chhattisgarh state has achieved a new dimension by achieving a historic achievement in the field of education. Due to the efficient leadership and visionary policy of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, today no school in the state, from primary to higher secondary, is left without a teacher. There has been an 80 percent reduction in the number of single-teacher schools in the state.
This change has been made possible through rationalization, the objective of which has been the judicious use of the state’s educational resources, rational posting of teachers and posting of teachers in schools as per the requirement in accordance with the spirit of the Right to Education Act and the New Education Policy.
It is noteworthy that before rationalization, 453 schools in the state were without teachers and only one teacher was posted in 5936 schools. This problem was more in remote and sensitive districts like Sukma, Narayanpur and Bijapur.
To overcome this disparity, the state government conducted a three-phase teacher counseling process at the district, division and state levels. As a result, today no school in the state is without a teacher and all high schools have been appointed with the minimum required teachers.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, while appreciating the efforts to improve the educational system in schools through rationalization, said that we had decided that now no child in Chhattisgarh will study without a teacher. Through rationalization, we are not only following the Right to Education Act, but are also laying the foundation of a strong and equitable education system. This is not just a transfer, it is the restoration of justice in education.
The Chief Minister also made it clear that improving the condition of single-teacher schools is among the government’s priorities and additional teachers will be sent to these schools through promotions and new appointments in the coming months.
The state government is now focusing on those 1207 primary schools where there is still one teacher. To solve this, a strategy has been made to give priority to the promotion of primary school head readers, posting of teachers and the recruitment process.
In the state, in single teacher primary schools, there are 283 in Bastar district, 250 in Bijapur, 186 in Sukma, 124 in Mohla-Manpur-Chowki, 89 in Korba, 94 in Balrampur, 64 in Narayanpur, 37 in Dhamtari, 47 in Surajpur, 11 in Dantewada, and only 22 schools in other districts. Teachers will be deployed in these schools soon as per the requirement.
This effort of the Chhattisgarh government is to make education inclusive and provide equal opportunities for every child to get education. This entire process has proved that rationalization is not just an administrative exercise, but it is a social justice based education reform, which has every child, every village, every school at its center.
