In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Chhattisgarh arrested a government clerk, Jugeshwar Rajwade, in Surajpur district. Rajwade, who was stationed at the Surajpur tehsil office, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of 25,000 rupees. The ACB team, dispatched from Raipur, executed the operation within the tehsil premises on Monday. The clerk had demanded the bribe from a farmer in exchange for processing the land mutation. After receiving a complaint and verifying its authenticity, the ACB set up a trap, leading to the clerk’s immediate arrest upon accepting the agreed-upon sum. The bribe money was recovered, and the entire operation was documented with video evidence to ensure the integrity of the case. The ACB is currently interrogating the accused and investigating the possible involvement of other officials in the corruption scheme.
