Let me tell you, a big operation was going on against Naxalites in Abujhmad, the border area of Narayanpur, Bijapur and Dantewada in Chhattisgarh. On 19 May 2025, DRG teams of different districts were set in search operation based on the strong input of the presence of Maoist leaders in the Abujhmad region. Meanwhile, on the morning of May 21, the Maoist squad started firing indiscriminately on the security forces, in response to which the security forces took action boldly and strategically and killed 27 Naxalites including Maoist general secretary and top leader Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavraju, BR Dada, Gagna.

5 Naxalites killed on the second day also
The security force campaign continues even after killing top Maoist leader Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavraju a day earlier. The DRG has killed five Naxalites in the ongoing encounter in the forests of Pedia under Gangalur police station area. During this time, two soldiers are reported injured.
2 young martyrs
During the Abujhmad operation campaign, DRG Bijapur soldier Ramesh Hemla was martyred due to the IED at around 7 pm yesterday. Earlier, on May 21, Khotluram Korram, a member of the DRG team, resident of village Bhatbeda in Aucha police station area of Narayanpur district, was killed on May 21 in the morning. The body of both the martyred soldiers is being brought to Narayapur district headquarters, where the final farewell will be given with respect. At the same time, some other soldiers have been injured, who were provided immediate treatment and all are out of danger.

The Government of Chhattisgarh has formed the District Reserve Guard (DRG) with the aim of effective control and permanent solution in Maoist activities in Naxal -affected areas. This is a special force, which has been trained by including local youth, so that they can take decisive action against the Maoists keeping in mind the geographical and social conditions of their region.
How is recruitment in DRG
Local people of Chhattisgarh are recruited in DRG. Most of the Naxal areas of the state fall in the tribal area. In such a situation, the soldiers of the security forces have difficulty in understanding their dialect and language. Local people know about the language, dialect and forest here. DRG personnel can search Naxalites in the forests for three to four days. The DRG also includes those Naxalites who come in the mainstream after surrendering. When the Naxalites who surrender, they know the strategy of the Naxalites, which gives benefits to the soldiers. This is the reason that these soldiers are considered to be the biggest enemies of Naxalites.

They also know about the movement of Naxalites, habits and methods of working. They also know about those who help Naxalites in the area. With this help, they plan a campaign against Naxalites which are often successful.
