Four individuals, including Harmeet Khanuja, the alleged mastermind behind the Bhartamala compensation scam, have been granted regular bail by the High Court. These accused were arrested by the ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) and had been incarcerated in Raipur jail for the past three months. The High Court’s decision comes after the accused filed petitions for bail following their arrests in April. The court, after considering the documents and arguments presented, granted regular bail to Harmeet Khanuja, Uma Devi Tiwari, Kedar Tiwari, and Vijay Jain. The investigation revealed a multi-crore scam involving fraudulent land acquisition during the Bhartamala project, a national highway development plan by the central government, that is creating a 463-kilometer-long four-lane road from Raipur to Visakhapatnam.
