In the evening, the siren rang at 7.30 and the whole city drowned in the dark. Many areas of the city were black out. Mock drills were done at Durg’s Civic Center Chowk, Sector 9 Chowk, Globe Chowk, 25 million Chowk, Equipment Chowk. At the same time, black out has also been black out in the township to protect Bhilai steel plant. The city was black out till 7.45 am i.e. 15 minutes, during which the mock drill was done to deal with the emergency. People were also made aware. People, employees, students were explained ways to rescue and remove people in emergency.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), SDRF, CISF and BSP jointly organized mock drills in the Welfare Building in front of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), SDRF, CISF and BSP on the instructions of the District Administration at the Bhilai Steel Plant today to strengthen disaster management. During the war/airstrikes and accidents during the accident, the works ranging from rescue work to overcoming accidents were done through mock drills through mock drills.
During the practice of this disaster management, the emergency situation was created as soon as the mock drill started and as an Inspector Controller, the General Manager of the department reached the workplace and took stock of the situation and immediately informed the concerned agencies about the incident. As soon as the emergency and information about the injuries of the people, the alarm bell rang and various BSP agencies with NDRF became active. During this exercise, BSP’s Fire Brigade, Safety Engineering Department, Energy Management Department, CISF, Acupious Health Services Department, Civil Defense and Departmental Officers and Employees showed active participation. In this mock drill, under the guidance of the Personnel Department of the plant, officers and employees of other departments including IR Department, Human Resource Development Department, Contact, Administration and Public Relations Department were actively engaged. Senior officials of the plant continued to monitor this mock drill program.
The NDRF team and the fire brigade team together took out the injured trapped inside and sent them to the hospital immediately through ambulance. During this time various proceedings were carried out according to the protocol. Close monitoring of all those activities was done in this disaster practice and various flaws were also noted during this period. This mock drill exercise was edited by senior officials of the plant under their supervision.
The police administration also rehearsed mock drill and black out in Rail Chowk and Surya Mall in Sector-10 with the help of district administration. The public was made aware through this event. Emergency situations were created at 4 pm today to prepare citizens to deal with emergency and to maintain administrative systems, which continued till the all -clear signal was played. The mock drill exercise began with the ‘red alert’ siren ringing and the ‘All Clear’ siren was terminated. During the mockdrill, the citizens were appealed to keep the clothes or handkerchief between their teeth and keep both ears covered by hand while standing in corners in their homes or lying on the ground.
The purpose of the mock drill organized by the Bhilai Steel Plant at the plant premises was to train the emergency response preparations of the plant, ensure quick and effective response and train employees to deal with various emergency scenarios. Bhilai Steel Plant Management gives supreme priority to safety and is a part of regular measures to ensure safety at the mock drill plant. Under this nationwide mock drill, all the employees of the concerned departments actively participated in the practice organized at Bhilai Steel Plant. This will help us to be prepared better for any emergency.
According to the instructions of the District Collector, Durg under the mock drill, the power supply remained completely closed during black out from 7:30 to 7:45 pm today from 7:30 to 7:45 pm. At the same time, the confidentiality of this mock drill is kept, so that the severity of the incident and the proceedings to be taken in accordance with the protocol can be tested correctly.
