In a significant move, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, convened at the CM House office in Civil Lines, Raipur. The Cabinet made several important decisions, including a crucial amendment concerning the families of police personnel martyred in the line of duty. The amendment revises the consolidated revised instructions-2013, specifically clause 13 (3), related to compassionate appointments. The revised directive allows for any eligible member (male or female) of the family of a police officer martyred in Naxalite violence to be appointed to any department within the state, across any district or division, as per their preference. Previously, compassionate appointments were primarily made in the same department or office where the deceased government servant was employed before their death.
