The Excise Department in Chhattisgarh will soon implement a cashless system in all liquor shops to promote online payments. Customers will be able to purchase liquor by making online payments at these shops. Excise Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan stated this during a review meeting of the Excise Department, emphasizing the need to encourage online payments in liquor stores. He directed that 100% of payments in these shops should be made through online channels.
Minister Dewangan also instructed that CCTV cameras should be installed in liquor shops, in line with the Chief Minister’s intentions, to allow for 24-hour continuous monitoring from the headquarters. He also stressed strict action against the illegal production, storage, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor and narcotic substances. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of increasing vigilance at excise check posts located on inter-state borders and conducting special operations.
During the meeting, Minister Dewangan also issued instructions to pay special attention to prevent the illegal sale and consumption of liquor in hotels, dhabas, and farmhouses. In addition, he reviewed the arrangements of liquor shops, including the licensing system, marketing corporation, and bar-club operations. He directed officials to take action against parties held at farmhouses where alcohol is served.
A detailed overview of the work plans for achieving revenue targets was presented at the meeting. Secretary of the Commercial Tax Excise Department, Smt. R. Sangeeta, provided a detailed presentation on departmental activities. The meeting was attended by Special Secretary of the Excise Department Shri Devendra Kumar Bhardwaj, Additional Commissioners Shri Ashish Srivastava, Shri P.L. Sahu, Shri G.K. Bhagat, and officials from the Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited and Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation.
