The Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (Vyapam) has implemented changes to its examination regulations. Candidates will no longer be permitted to wear shoes to the exams; they must wear sandals or slippers. Moreover, only half-sleeved clothing will be allowed. Jewelry, including earrings, is also prohibited. These new rules will be in effect for the upcoming Sub Engineer recruitment exam scheduled for July 20.
Additionally, the examination gates will now close 15 minutes before the start of the exam. Previously, entry was allowed until the scheduled exam time. For instance, if an exam begins at 10 AM, the main gate will close at 9:45 AM. Light-colored, half-sleeved clothing is mandatory. Candidates are prohibited from leaving the examination center during the first and last half-hour of the exam.
Vyapam has adopted stricter provisions for examinations, mirroring the standards of NEET, JEE, and UPSC. Similar guidelines regarding attire, footwear, and jewelry will be enforced. Candidates will now undergo metal detector checks in addition to manual searches. Police personnel will also monitor the examination center and its surroundings during the exam. According to officials, the new provisions will be in effect for the July 20 Sub Engineer recruitment exam conducted by the Water Resources Department.
Furthermore, any form of communication or gesturing in the exam hall will be strictly prohibited. Whispering, shouting, talking, or using gestures will lead to disciplinary action. Disobeying instructions from officials, misconduct, or engaging in disputes will also result in consequences. Following a case of cheating in the PWD exam held on Sunday, Vyapam reiterated its guidelines on unfair means. The guidelines, initially issued in February 2023, detail prohibited activities during the exam.
Banned electronic devices include mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, calculators, and any other communication devices.
