Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the joint headquarters building of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies in Nava Raipur Sector-24. The ceremony, held on the auspicious occasion of Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee year and the Ganesh Utsav, included a formal prayer and the unveiling of a 3D model of the building. The Chief Minister stated that the building would enhance the efficiency of officers and employees, strengthen coordination among the three power companies, and provide all services to consumers under one roof. He also participated in a tree planting initiative, planting a Moulshree sapling under the ‘A Tree for Mother’ campaign.
Chief Minister Sai highlighted that Chhattisgarh’s 25-year journey demonstrates that historical results are achieved when resolve and sensitivity go hand in hand. In 2000, the state produced only 1400 MW of electricity; today, this capacity has increased to 30,000 MW.
His recent visits to Japan and South Korea provided insights into Chhattisgarh’s rapid progress towards global-standard infrastructure and work culture. The joint headquarters building is a significant step in this direction. He directed officials to ensure that the building’s construction is completed with quality and timeliness, becoming a new identity for Chhattisgarh in the energy sector.
The Chief Minister noted that under the new industrial policy, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) worth nearly three lakh crore rupees have been signed in the power sector. This will result in the production of an additional 30,000 MW of electricity in the coming years. He mentioned that this achievement will not only provide uninterrupted 24-hour electricity to the residents of the state but will also meet the needs of neighboring states. He also mentioned that the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has rapidly propelled Chhattisgarh towards free electricity, and the benefits of this scheme are now reaching remote areas.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap honored Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his contributions to the state’s formation. He stated that the building, which will be built at a cost of approximately 270 crore rupees, will be based on green energy and will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations. The event was attended by Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal, MLA Sunil Soni, MLA Purandar Mishra, MLA Anuj Sharma, MLA Indra Kumar Sahu, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, and Secretary of the Energy Department, Dr. Rohit Yadav, along with a large number of officers and employees.
The joint headquarters building will be constructed on an area of 10,017 square meters and will have nine floors. It will house three separate towers for Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited, Power Generation Company Limited, and Power Transmission Company Limited. The building, with a capacity for 1300 employees, will feature a 210-seat auditorium, a gym for employees, a two-story basement parking, mechanical stack parking, and modern amenities such as e-vehicle charging. The building will be constructed in accordance with the BEE’s five-star and GRIHA’s five-star green rating standards and will be fully managed by a building management system.
Located near the Ministry, Directorate, and Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur, this state-of-the-art building will further strengthen inter-departmental coordination and provide new heights to the energy sector of the state.
