Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the annual general meeting of the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association held at the Circuit House auditorium in Raipur on Friday. Discussions included the approval of the 2024-25 audit report, presentation and approval of the 2025-26 annual budget, and the appointment of auditors for 2025-26, among other significant agenda items.
CM Sai emphasized that Chhattisgarh has no shortage of sporting talent. The government is consistently striving to recognize and nurture these talents. The previously discontinued sports awards ceremony has been restarted, and an outstanding player honor ceremony will also be launched soon.
Additionally, CM Sai announced the initiation of new Khelo India complexes in Chhattisgarh. He mentioned a recent visit by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, where they discussed the expansion of sports infrastructure. Special preparations have been made to encourage athletes, especially for the Olympic Games. The government has decided to award three crore rupees to gold medalists, two crore rupees to silver medalists, and one crore rupees to bronze medalists from the state in the Olympics, which will undoubtedly boost the morale of the athletes.
The Chief Minister stated the government aims to increase the sports budget and encourage the participation of the corporate sector. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proposed India’s hosting of the Olympic Games in 2036, with Ahmedabad city as the proposed venue. The central government is focused on strengthening the sports system in the country so that India can emerge as a sports superpower within a decade. Similarly, Chhattisgarh must make collective efforts to host national-level games.
