A fierce gun battle in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district has resulted in the deaths of twelve Naxalites and the tragic loss of three security personnel. The encounter took place in the dense forests of the Gangaloor area, which borders the Dantewada district, during a coordinated anti-Naxal operation. Officials confirmed that a joint team, comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and the elite CoBRA unit of the CRPF, was engaged in the operation when the exchange of fire erupted.
Tragically, three members of the DRG, identified as Head Constable Monu Vadadi, Constable Dukaru Gonde, and jawan Ramesh Sodhi, made the supreme sacrifice. Two other DRG personnel sustained injuries but are reported to be out of danger and receiving medical attention. Authorities have recovered the bodies of twelve Naxalites from the encounter site, along with a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including SLRs and Insas rifles. The identities of the deceased Naxalites are currently being established. This significant operation brings the total number of Naxalites eliminated in Chhattisgarh this year to 268, underscoring the ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in the region.
