The Chhattisgarh government will provide subsidies to consumers for installing solar rooftop plants in the state, in addition to the central government’s financial assistance. A subsidy of ₹15,000 will be provided by the state government for installing a 1-kilowatt solar plant, while the central government will offer ₹30,000. For plants of 3 kilowatts or more, the state will provide ₹30,000 and the central government ₹78,000. The amount of subsidy will vary based on the capacity of the solar plant (1, 2, 3 kilowatts and above).
Housing societies and Residential Welfare Associations will also be eligible for similar subsidies. The decision was made by the cabinet to provide financial assistance to consumers for the installation of solar rooftop plants on the roofs of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, through the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL), with the aim of promoting renewable energy and providing economic benefits to electricity consumers in the state.
