Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recently met with officers in New Delhi to congratulate them on the historic success of operations against Naxalism. He affirmed the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present at the event.
In a post on X, the Home Minister stated his eagerness to meet the brave soldiers who made these operations successful and announced his upcoming visit to Chhattisgarh. He also highlighted the success of the anti-Maoist operations conducted under his direction by security forces in Chhattisgarh. Notably, an operation from May 18-21, 2025, involving the Chhattisgarh Police (including DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts) led to an encounter in the forests of Boter on May 21, 2025. This resulted in the death of 27 Naxals, including Basavaraju, alias Gaganna, the General Secretary and Politburo member of the CPI (Maoist), and the recovery of a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.
Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekananda, Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Naxal-free district Bastar Shalabh Singh were honored by Amit Shah. The event was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and other senior officials.
