In a recent ceremony in New Delhi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah acknowledged and congratulated officers for their pivotal roles in recent anti-Naxal operations. Shah highlighted the historic success of these operations and reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present at the event.
Shah, in a post on X, expressed his admiration for the officers and his eagerness to meet the soldiers whose bravery ensured the success of these operations. He announced plans to visit Chhattisgarh soon to personally meet them. The operations, conducted under the direction of the Union Home Minister, involved the Chhattisgarh Police, including forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts. A significant encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of Boter resulted in the death of 27 Naxalites, including Basavaraju alias Ganganna, a key leader of the CPI (Maoist), and the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition.
Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Naxal-Free District Bastar Shalabh Singh were among those honored by Amit Shah. The event was attended by several senior officials, including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka.
