Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recently met with officers in New Delhi to congratulate them on the historic success of recent anti-Naxal operations. He emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present at the event.
In a post on X, the Home Minister stated his excitement to meet the soldiers who made these operations successful and announced his upcoming visit to Chhattisgarh. He also mentioned that these operations were conducted under his direction.
The operations, which included forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, resulted in the elimination of 27 Naxals, including Basavaraju, a high-ranking Maoist leader, in a May 21, 2025, encounter in the forests of Boter village. Significant amounts of weapons and ammunition were recovered.
Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Naxal-free district Bastar, Shalabh Singh, were honored by Amit Shah. Also present were Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and other senior officials.
