In a ceremony held in New Delhi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah acknowledged and congratulated officers for their significant contributions to the recent successful anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh. Shah emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to freeing India from the scourge of Naxalism. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present at the event.
Shah, in a post on X, stated that he was eager to meet the soldiers whose bravery led to the success of these operations and would soon visit Chhattisgarh to meet them.
The operations, conducted under the guidance of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, involved the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG forces from districts such as Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur. One notable operation, from May 18-21, 2025, resulted in an encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of village Boter, where 27 Naxals, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Politburo member Baswaraju alias Gaganna, were killed, and a significant quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered.
Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Naxal-free district Bastar Shalabh Singh were among those honored by Amit Shah. Also present were Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials.
