Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah met with officials in New Delhi to commend their crucial role in the recent anti-Naxal operations, highlighting the historical success of these endeavors. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present at the event. Shah emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India. The operations, conducted under the Home Minister’s direction, saw significant success, including an encounter in the forests of Boter on May 21, 2025, where 27 Naxals, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Baswaraju alias Gaganna, were killed. Large quantities of weapons and ammunition were also recovered. The officials honored included Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekananda, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Naxal-free district Bastar Shalabh Singh. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, along with other senior officials, were also in attendance.
