Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah met with officials in New Delhi, recognizing their significant contributions to recent anti-Naxal operations. Shah congratulated them on the historic success of these operations, reaffirming the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present at the event.
In a post on X, the Home Minister stated, “I congratulated the officers who played a key role in the recent anti-Naxal operations on their historic success. I am also eager to meet the jawans who made these operations successful with their bravery and will visit Chhattisgarh soon to meet them. The Modi government is committed to freeing India from the scourge of Naxalism.”
Notably, under the direction of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, anti-Maoist operations are being conducted by security forces in Chhattisgarh. As part of this, in an operation conducted by the Chhattisgarh Police (including DRG forces of District Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur Police) in the inner areas of Abujhmad from May 18 to May 21, 2025, 27 Naxals, including Basavaraju alias Gaganna, General Secretary and Politburo member of CPI (Maoist), were killed in an encounter in the forests of village Boter on May 21, 2025, and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered.
Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Naxal-free district Bastar Shalabh Singh were honored by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and several other senior officials were present on the occasion.
