Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah met with officers in New Delhi, recognizing their significant contributions to recent anti-Naxal operations. Shah congratulated them on the historic success of these operations, emphasizing the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present at the event.
In a post on X, the Home Minister lauded the officers for their crucial roles in the anti-Naxal operations and expressed his eagerness to meet the soldiers who ensured the success of these missions. He announced plans to visit Chhattisgarh soon to personally meet them. The operations, conducted under the direction of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, included a major offensive in the inner areas of Abujhmad from May 18 to May 21, 2025. This operation involved the Chhattisgarh Police, including District Reserve Guard (DRG) forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur. A significant encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of village Boter resulted in the death of 27 Naxals, including Baswaraju, also known as Gaganna, the General Secretary and Politburo member of the CPI (Maoist). Substantial quantities of weapons and ammunition were recovered. Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekananda, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police (Narayanpur) Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Bijapur) Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police (Naxal-Free District Bastar) Shalabh Singh were honored by Amit Shah. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials also attended.
