Satya Rajput, Raipur. The government continues to be strict towards providing cheap and quality medicines to the common people in Chhattisgarh. A total of 331 medical stores were inspected in various districts of the state in the financial year 2024-25 under control and monitoring of drugs. During this period, a violation of the prescribed price was found in 21 establishments, on which action has been initiated as per rules. This action was taken by the Price Monitoring and Resource Unit (CGPMru) working in the state on the instructions of the National Drug Price Determination Authority (NPPA).

Giving information, the nodal officer of CGPMRU said that the priority of the state government is that necessary medicines should be made available to the common people at prescribed prices. For this purpose, the Price Monitoring and Resource Unit (CGPMRU) was established in Chhattisgarh on 24 March 2021 by the NPPA working under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

This unit is constantly monitoring the prices of notified medicines in the state while working under the provisions of the Drug Price Control Order (DPCO). CGPMRU is working as a major colleague of NPPA and is ensuring regulatory compliance by collecting information at the ground level from various drug establishments of the state.

Giving information, the CGPMRU nodal officer said, “A total of 331 drug establishments were inspected in various districts of Chhattisgarh in the financial year 2024-25. Out of which 21 establishments have been found to have a violation of notified value.” He also said that “All these matters have been registered on the IPDMS portal of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, New Delhi for necessary legal action. The process of action has been started against the respective institutions as per rules.”

The NPPA is playing an active role through state -level monitoring units across the country to ensure transparency in drug prices and provide relief to common consumers. This initiative of CGPMRU in Chhattisgarh is an effective step towards providing cheap and quality medicines to the people of the state.
