Raipur. In Chhattisgarh, the Sai government is going to give rationing three months ration to the families of ration cards. The ‘Rice Festival’ will be held from 01 to 07 June. During this festival, more than 81 lakh ration card holders of the state will be distributed outright for three months of June, July and August. For this purpose, the state government has released the allocation of rice to 13,928 fair price shops of the state. The storage work of rice in all the shops is going on fast, so that there is no obstruction in the distribution.
As per the instructions issued by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, the distribution of rice from all fair price shops will be ensured during the rice festival from June 1 to June 7. On this occasion, demonstration of distribution related information in shops has been made mandatory. Collectors of all districts have been directed to widely broadcast the information of rice distribution through various publicity mediums, so that every beneficiary reached this information easily and distribution remains transparent.
Reena Babasaheb Kangale, Secretary, Food Department, today held a review meeting with all the collectors, food officials and district managers of the Civil Supplies Corporation through a video conference for the preparation of ‘Rice Utsav’. He instructed in the meeting that proper storage of premature rice should be ensured in each fair price shop. The distribution of rice should be in the presence of the shop level monitoring committee and each beneficiary should get rice only after biometric authentication by the e-pos machine. Also, acknowledgment receipt of rice distributed to the beneficiaries should be given compulsorily.
Food Secretary Kangale said that the purpose of this overall process is to ensure transparency, accountability and beneficiary convenience. Effective use of technology is also being ensured by the department. During the monsoon, special preparations have also been made for 249 such fair price shops in the state, which become accessible in the rainy season. In the month of June itself, instructions have been given to complete the proceedings of advance rice storage in these shops, so that ration distribution can continue uninterrupted even during the rainy season.
Kiran Kaushal, Managing Director of Civil Supplies Corporation and Ramesh Sharma, Director of Food Department were present in the meeting. Apart from this, Collector, Food Controller, District Food Officer, District Manager Civil Supplies Corporation of all districts also joined through video conference.
