Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met with Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Government of India, at his office in the Vidhan Sabha premises today. Discussions centered on strengthening the land records system, the use of technical innovations in land surveys, and the expeditious disposal of pending cases in revenue courts. Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma was also present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the state government is fully committed to updating land revenue documents and making necessary improvements. He emphasized that the more organized the revenue records are, the quicker and more effective the resolution of cases in revenue courts will be. He clarified that the state government would work hand in hand with the central government on all initiatives related to the improvement of land records, making the system more impactful and beneficial to the public.
The Chief Minister highlighted the central government’s efforts to bring transparency, speed, and accuracy to land revenue records through technology-based innovative initiatives, which will directly benefit farmers and the general public. He directed the officers of the Revenue Department to ensure all necessary steps in this direction promptly.
Union Land Resources Secretary Manoj Joshi mentioned that the condition of land records in Chhattisgarh is relatively better and that further improvements are being made with the active cooperation of the state government. He explained that the traditional method of land surveying used to take more time, but now, with the use of modern technologies, this process has become faster, more accurate, and more reliable.
Joshi stated that the central government is making special efforts to improve the land record maintenance system, under which financial and technical assistance is being provided to the states. He noted that technical issues often arise during the updating of maps during land transactions, which can be effectively resolved through digital surveys. This will provide each citizen with updated and authentic maps, reducing discrepancies and better planning for the expansion of urban areas.
