Bilaspur, November 15/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnudeo Sai today, during his visit to Bilaspur, unveiled a life-size statue of the donor Gond King Raghuraj Singh Jagat at the Raghuraj Stadium located in the heart of the city. This historic stadium has been built on approximately 5 acres of land donated by Raja Raghuraj Singh Jagat of Pandariya zamindari in the middle of the city. Many indoor sports competitions, including cricket, are organized here. It is known that Pandariya zamindari was included in the western border of the undivided Bilaspur district. In 1958, Raja Raghuraj Singh Jagat of this place donated his priceless land located in the heart of Bilaspur city for the development of sports. The stadium has been built on the land donated by him to promote sports activities. The Physical Cultural Society currently looks after it. Raja Raghuraj Singh Cricket Stadium has witnessed many Ranji matches. The stadium has also hosted three Ranji matches against Vidarbha cricket team and Madhya Pradesh cricket team against Railways cricket team in 1978, 1979 and 1981. Besides, players who have played many national and international matches here have proven their mettle. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai interacted with the players at the stadium and boosted their morale.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and District In-charge Minister Shri Arun Sao, MLAs Shri Dharamlal Kaushik, Shri Amar Agarwal, Shri Dharamjeet Singh, Shri Sushant Shukla, Mayor Mrs. Pooja Vidhani, Collector Sanjay Agarwal, SSP Rajneesh Singh, along with a large number of public representatives, officials, and distinguished citizens were present.
