A video circulating on social media shows a constable in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district assaulting a fellow police officer with a belt while under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred at the Lalbagh police station. Following the incident, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rajnandgaon suspended Constable Mahendra Sahu, who was involved in the assault. An investigation has been initiated, and the CSP has been appointed to oversee it. The assault took place during duty hours, with Sahu appearing to be heavily intoxicated. He was taken to the district hospital for a medical examination, where the assault occurred. CCTV footage captured the entire event, which has since gone viral. The SP’s actions followed the widespread sharing of the video, with public concern over the behavior of the police.
