Dhamtari District Deploys Teams to Monitor Tusker Movement Towards Populated Areas

In response to the recent incursion of a tusker into the Keregaon range, Dhamtari district authorities have mobilized multiple forest patrol units. These units are equipped with GPS trackers and communication devices to maintain a constant visual on the elephant believed to be roaming near block P-143.

The department's priority is to ensure the animal's safe passage without endangering villagers. Continuous updates are being shared with local panchayats, and emergency shelters have been prepared for rapid evacuation if the elephant changes course toward densely populated zones.

Community leaders have been briefed on the protocol: refrain from approaching the animal, avoid making loud noises, and report any movement changes directly to the forest control room. The ongoing surveillance aims to guide the elephant back toward its natural corridor, reducing the likelihood of a human‑wildlife conflict.
