Amit Pandey, Dongargarh. The ropeway accident at the famous mother Bamleshwari temple in Chhattisgarh on Friday has once again raised serious questions on the security arrangements of the devotees. It has become not just a technical accident, but a dangerous example of negligence, illegal construction and VIP culture.
Packra came on inspection, victim of accident himself
Let us know that Ramsevak Paikra, president of Forest Development Corporation of Chhattisgarh and former minister, arrived in Dongargarh on Friday afternoon for the purpose of understanding the system of ropeway operations. Under his leadership, there is a plan to install ropeway in Kudargarh temple. The meeting was scheduled with the temple trust, in which some officials associated with Kudargarh also attended. But the technique that came to see, made him a victim of accident.
As soon as the trolley reached the station below the temple in the afternoon, she moved beyond her fixed limit and hit the illegal platform there and overturned. The Chabutra Temple Trust President was built on the instructions of Manoj Aggarwal, whose technical approval was not taken and which was not part of the original design of the ropeway. Regular operation of this ropeway remains closed from 1 pm to 3 pm. But in view of Packra’s VIP journey, the ropeway was specially operational, that too when most of the staff was in food holiday.
At the time of the accident, Ramsevak Packra, BJP leader Bharat Verma, Trust President Manoj Aggarwal, Daya Singh, Siddharth Singh and Balram Singh were riding in the trolley. During this time, Bharat Verma has suffered serious injuries, there is a possibility of fracture in the spinal cord and hand. Others suffered minor injuries.
Old events are telling – these accidents are not coincidental!
This is not the first time that the ropeway of Dongargarh has come under the scanner –
February 2021: Worker Gopi God was killed after the ropeway trolley collapsed. The trolley fell down from the rope cable and fell directly on the ground. April 2024: Collector Sanjay Aggarwal and SP Mohit Garg were trapped in the trolley during the inspection before Navratri. The system stopped due to the power supply stopped and they were brought down from the generator.
Despite these incidents, neither the system changed nor security arrangements.
Responsible to avoid accountability
After the accident, SP Mohit Garg reached the spot and an FIR was lodged against Damodar Infra, a company operating the ropeway. But the local people are raising questions that when the accident occurred due to illegal platform, VIP pressure operations and the absence of staff, then why not action against the president of the trust Manoj Aggarwal? Manoj Aggarwal was seen escaping in front of the media saying that the operation trusts but the responsibility of maintenance is Damodar Infra. On the other hand, Damodar Infra’s site in-charge made an excuse for ‘low voltage-high voltage’, bursting all the blasts on the electricity department. But till date, the company has never given any written information to this problem to the electricity department.
This accident not just an accident, but opens the poll of that careless and VIP culture, in which the rules are broken by keeping the safety of the general public. Technical service like ropeway, where life has been stunned, was conducted without staff, without security and without necessary permission.
Packra brought the dream of planting ropeway in Kudargarh, but the ropeway of Dongargarh brought him to the ground. Now the question is, will the company take action only after this accident? Or will the grip on those real responsibilities who crushed the rules under VIP orders?
