ED probes former Damtari municipal commissioner Pankaj Sharma’s rented flat

In the early hours of September 1, 2026, a six‑member Enforcement Directorate team, supported by security forces, arrived at Amaltas Puram in Damtari. Their objective was the rented accommodation of Pankaj Sharma, who served as municipal commissioner during the Congress government’s rule.

The team entered the flat and began a detailed examination of lease documents, financial statements and any correspondence that might relate to alleged irregularities. Sharma, who has been residing at the premises for roughly two months, was not present at the time of the raid.

The ED has not released details of the investigation, leaving the public to wonder whether the probe concerns alleged corruption, misuse of municipal authority, or other financial improprieties. Sharma’s prior position in the municipal hierarchy and his recent relocation have placed the case under heightened scrutiny.
