Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted raids in Chhattisgarh, targeting a prominent railway contractor and the owner of Hotel Sagar International. The raids began at 6 AM on Tuesday at the residence and business premises of Vijay Agrawal in Durg. ED teams, accompanied by CRPF personnel, arrived in three Innova vehicles.
Sources indicate that the ED is conducting thorough questioning and document verification at Agrawal’s home and office. It is understood that Agrawal owns several firms registered under different names, and other family members are also involved in business activities. The business group was previously operated by three brothers, but the family recently split. The ED is investigating the entire business group, including all three brothers. The family’s name surfaced during the previous Chhattisgarh government’s tenure in connection with the Mid-Day Meal scheme, where they were awarded a contract. Furthermore, some members of the group were implicated in the Rail Neer scam.
It is reported that the raids are not limited to Durg, with ED teams also active at other locations associated with the family in Raipur. The family owns the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Raipur, which could also fall under ED scrutiny. No official statement has yet been released by the ED, but the operation is expected to continue throughout the day. The ongoing ED actions in Chhattisgarh are likely to intensify business and political activities in the state.
