Expression Through Art is a Great Skill - Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap 'Muskurata Bastar' Workshop Organized 120 School Students Learned Nuances of Cartoon and Caricature from Senior Cartoonists New Picture of Bastar Emerged on Cartoon Canvas Aligned with Chief Minister's Vision
Raipur, with the objective of conveying Bastar's positive image, rich cultural heritage, and natural beauty to the country and the world through creative art, a 'Muskurata Bastar' cartoon workshop was organized on Monday at a private hotel in Jagdalpur. This workshop, organized by the country's only monthly cartoon magazine 'Cartoon Watch' in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department, saw enthusiastic participation from 120 students from 10 schools in the district.
Speaking as the chief guest, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap said that expressing one's emotions and thoughts through art is also a special skill. He stated that cartoons and caricatures are not just a medium of entertainment but a powerful art form for effectively presenting positive messages about society, culture, and development. Mayor Shri Sanjay Pandey and MIC member Shri Sangram Singh, along with school teachers and students, were also present on this occasion. Bastar Collector Shri Akash Chhikara also visited the workshop to encourage the children.
In the workshop, senior cartoonist from Delhi, Shri Madhav Joshi, and famous caricature artist from Pune, Shri Shubham Jinde, taught students the techniques of cartoon and caricature creation through live demonstrations. They also informed students about the social importance of art, creative possibilities, and employment opportunities.
It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Bastar is building a new identity with development, trust, and new possibilities. Heritage sites like Chitrakote and Tirathgarh waterfalls, Kanger Ghati National Park, Bastar Dussehra, and tribal culture are giving Bastar a distinct identity at the national and international level. The 'Muskurata Bastar' workshop aims to creatively present these positive aspects through cartoon art. In the workshop, children, with their imagination and creative talent, vividly depicted the changing form, development, and prosperity of the new Bastar on canvas.
'Cartoon Watch' editor Shri Triyambak Sharma said that the objective of this initiative is to develop creative thinking among students and to convey the strengths of Bastar to the new generation. He added that this workshop is an innovative effort to provide a platform for local talents and to establish Bastar's positive identity across the country. This event will serve as a strong medium to connect youth with their culture, traditions, and natural heritage. On this occasion, caricature artist Shri Shubham Jinde presented caricatures he made of the Forest Minister and the Mayor. Various competitions were also organized for the students in the workshop, in which students participated and received prizes.
