Extended Power Bill Settlement Plan Saves Consumers ₹19.46 Cr in Discounts

RAYPUR, 8 Oct 2026 – The state’s Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme‑2026 has been extended to the end of the calendar year, allowing more than 65,000 consumers to benefit from a ₹19.46‑crore discount on old electricity dues.

The scheme, applicable to BPL, residential and agricultural customers in the Rajnandgaon zone, has already helped 31,392 dormant and 33,669 active users clear their arrears. In total, beneficiaries have deposited approximately ₹5.89 crore toward outstanding balances.

Four districts are covered: Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Khairagarh‑Chhuikhadan‑Gandai and Mohla‑Manpur‑Ambagarh Chauki. Kavardha (24,415) and Pandariya (21,234) electric circles show the highest participation, with the remaining circles contributing between 1,293 and 6,023 beneficiaries each.

To spread awareness, the power department has mobilised 66 distribution centres across three zones. Field teams, led by chief engineer Harsh Kumar Meshram, are visiting both rural and urban locales to explain eligibility, discount calculations and the settlement process.

Consumers with unpaid bills dated before 31 March 2023 must settle their dues at the nearest distribution centre or zone office before the newly set deadline of 31 December 2026.
