Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, is set to experience significant relief from traffic congestion. The city is undertaking the construction of seven new overbridges simultaneously, a first for Raipur. The Public Works Department (PWD) has been given a one-year timeframe to complete the project, with the necessary budget already approved. The locations for these overbridges have been strategically selected based on areas experiencing the highest traffic jams and accident rates. These new overbridges will be constructed across all four directions of the city, promising reduced traffic congestion, fewer accidents, and time savings of approximately 20 minutes per road.
Overbridges will be constructed at the following locations:
* **Kali Bari to Police Line Gate:** A 1.5-kilometer-long overbridge will be built at a cost of ₹50 crore. This will alleviate congestion, especially during peak hours.
* **Fundhar Chowk to Temri:** A flyover will be constructed at Fundhar Chowk, costing ₹30 crore, and spanning 700 meters in length. This will provide relief to those traveling to the airport.
* **Amlidih Chowk to Dronacharya School:** An overbridge will be built over the Canal Linking Road, connecting Amlidih Chowk to Dronacharya School. The cost is estimated at ₹40 crore.
* **Gudhiyari to Expressway Flyover:** A flyover is planned to connect Shukrawari Bazar in Gudhiyari to the Expressway, which will provide significant relief to commuters.
Additional Overbridge Locations:
* **Mova:** An overbridge is planned from Khalsa School to Mova Reliance Mart. The estimated cost is around ₹135 crore.
* **Bhanpuri Chowk:** An overbridge will be constructed at Bhanpuri Chowk, with an estimated cost of ₹40 crore.
* **Kharun River:** An overbridge is proposed to connect Raipur and Patan, with an estimated cost of ₹60 crore. The proposal has been sent to the government for approval.
