The central government has initiated the SPREE 2025 scheme (Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees) to bolster the nation’s social security framework and encourage registration of employers and employees. This special registration drive will continue until December 31, 2025, providing employers and workers with an opportunity to join the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to worker welfare, aiming to develop a comprehensive social security net for all workers.
The scheme aims to bring millions of unorganized, temporary, and contract workers under the ESI umbrella, granting them access to healthcare services, maternity benefits, financial security, and other social advantages. Employers also receive various relaxations, including no penalties or demands on past contributions, exemption from inspections on previous cases, and registration validity from the date declared by the employer.
With a special focus on Chhattisgarh, the ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation) is organizing awareness campaigns, helpdesks, and seminars through its regional and sub-regional offices in Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba, and Durg. Employers with 10 or more employees who have not yet registered under the ESI Act, or who have not included all eligible employees, can register online via the ESIC portal, the Shram Suvidha portal, or the MCA portal.
