Hundred Officials Storm Durg Central Prison, Confiscate Mobile Phones

Around six in the morning on Thursday, a force of about one hundred officers, led by Collector Abhijit Singh, descended on Durg Central Prison in a surprise operation. The joint task force, comprising district officials and senior police, encircled the jail and began a systematic sweep.

The operation was divided into ten teams that examined every dormitory, toilet and concealed space. Their diligence uncovered two mobile phones with SIM cards, along with prohibited beedis, cigarettes, tobacco, a chilm, lighters, scissors and nail cutters.

Key officials, including the Additional District Magistrate and senior police commanders, remained on the ground to supervise the raid, which lasted roughly two hours. A detailed inventory of the seized material has been submitted to the relevant police station.

Investigators are now checking the phone logs and SIM registrations to trace communication lines and determine how the forbidden items were smuggled into the prison.
