An IED blast carried out by Naxalites in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh resulted in the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to several other police personnel. The incident occurred near the village of Dondra on Monday morning. The ASP, who sustained serious injuries, succumbed during treatment. The blast took place during a patrol conducted in light of a bandh called by the Naxalites. The injured have been taken to a hospital in Konta. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed sorrow, calling ASP Giripunje a brave officer. Search operations have been intensified in the area following the attack. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges posed by Naxal violence and the security forces’ efforts to combat it.
