Initiative for rapid lifting of 5 lakh metric tonnes of rice, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai appealed to the central minister to provide adequate railway racks

31 July New Delhi- Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai on Thursday met Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Prahlad Joshi at the Karyavibhag Bhavan in New Delhi and urged the rapid lifting of 5 lakh metric tonnes of rice from Chhattisgarh and the provision of sufficient railway racks every month. He said this would speed up rice transportation, provide enough space in warehouses for the new crop and make the procurement process from farmers smoother. The Chief Minister said that for the marketing year 2025-26, Chhattisgarh has been given a target to supply 73 lakh tonnes of rice to the central pool. To ensure timely lifting of rice, he requested the state to be provided with at least 250 railway racks each month. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, responding positively to the Chief Minister's request, assured the necessary cooperation. Chief Minister's principal secretary Mr Subodh Singh was also present during the meeting.
