The schemes of women empowerment run by the Chhattisgarh government are now yielding positive results on the ground. An inspiring example of this is Mrs. Lalmati of Gamharia village in Jashpur district, who has set an example of self-reliance by taking advantage of various schemes of the government. She has not only created her own identity with her determination and hard work, but has also inspired other women in the village.
The life of Mrs. Lalmati is a story of becoming a successful entrepreneur from an ordinary laborer. When she joined the Prajapati Gauri Self-Help Group, she got the benefit of government schemes through the Bihan Yojana. She started the business of shuttering plates by obtaining a loan from the Department of Industries and later expanded her business by taking a loan under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana in January 2025.
Today, Mrs. Lalmati has more than 200 shuttering plates, which she rents out for the roof casting of under-construction houses under private buildings and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. From February 2025 till now, she has earned an income of approximately Rs 35,000 to 40,000 from this business. This figure is constantly increasing because construction work of many houses is going on in the village under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Mrs. Lalmati, while expressing her gratitude to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, said that if the government schemes had not been with her, she would not have reached this position today. The government gave us courage, provided resources and showed a new path.
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai said that it is the firm resolve of our government that women in rural areas should become self-reliant and play a leading role in economic activities. Through schemes like Bihan, Mudra Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, we are not only providing financial assistance to women, but also providing them with training, technical assistance and access to the market. Women like Mrs. Lalmati are the symbol of the new socio-economic consciousness of Chhattisgarh. The priority of the Chhattisgarh government is that every woman should stand on her own feet, live with dignity and become an inspiration for others.
