In Raipur, the opulent bungalow belonging to the money-lending Tomar Brothers has been seized. The property, located in Bhathagaon, included 1500 square feet each for the two brothers. According to the Raipur SDM, the administration took possession of the property following an order from the CJM. Following this action, no alterations can be made to the house, nor can it be sold without court permission.
The police had filed a petition to seize the property, which led to a final warning from the court. They were given until August 18th to appear in court. Previously, the municipal corporation had demolished Rohit Tomar’s illegal office using a bulldozer. Both Tomar brothers have been absconding for the past two months.
The situation stems from an incident approximately two months ago when property dealer Dashmeet Chawla filed an FIR at the Telibandha police station, accusing Rohit Tomar of assault. The police have been searching for Rohit since the incident. After Rohit disappeared, his brother Virendra Tomar also vanished. The police sent teams to multiple states to locate the accused, but no arrests have been made.
With the action taken, the victims’ fear has begun to subside.
The Tomar brothers are known for their criminal history. The fear of the accused and their associates was so intense among the victims that they hesitated to file complaints with the police, even while residing in the same city. However, since the police began taking action against Virendra and Rohit, the fear among the victims has diminished.
Over six FIRs have been filed against the brothers, with victims accusing Rohit Tomar and Virendra Tomar of illegal extortion, threats, and violations under the Chhattisgarh Debtors Protection Act.
