A man in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari, after leaving his clothes and slippers near the Gangrel Dam, was presumed drowned. A search operation involving police and divers was launched. However, the man was later found in Delhi, where he had been hiding. The individual had fabricated a false death scenario to escape his financial burdens. On May 24, Hemant Chandravanshi from Kawardha, along with friends, stayed at a resort near the dam. The next morning, while his companions went to fetch supplies, Chandravanshi vanished, leaving behind his belongings. His friends reported him missing to the Rudri police, initiating a search focused on the possibility of drowning. After failing to find any trace, the police began suspecting foul play. Tracking his other phone number, they located him in Delhi, eventually apprehending him and bringing him back to Dhamtari. According to ASP Manishankar Chandra, Chandravanshi was under significant debt, prompting him to stage his disappearance. He left his belongings near the dam and fled through the jungle. Legal action will be taken against him for this serious offense.
