A man in Chhattisgarh, India, sparked a 12-day search operation after his clothes and slippers were found near the Gangrel Dam, leading authorities to believe he had drowned. However, the man was later discovered in Delhi, having staged his disappearance. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man, identified as Hemant Chandravanshi, was burdened by debt, which led him to concoct the elaborate ruse. He had visited a resort near the dam with friends on May 24th and went missing the following day. His friends reported his disappearance after finding his belongings. The police, initially suspecting drowning, deployed divers to search the dam. After failing to find him, the police began tracking his phone and discovered he was in Delhi. Chandravanshi was apprehended and brought back to Dhamtari. Authorities confirmed that Chandravanshi created the false narrative due to his financial troubles and legal action will be taken.
