In Bijapur district, a dangerous plot by Naxalites was foiled due to the vigilance of security forces. During a demining operation on the Gorna-Mankeli road on Saturday, security forces recovered a powerful command IED weighing 10 kilograms and defused it on the spot.
It is noteworthy that on Friday, Naxalites had brutally murdered a young man in the same village, creating an atmosphere of fear in the entire area. The very next day, the Naxalites planted explosives on the road to target the security personnel, but their conspiracy was unsuccessful.
On Saturday, DRG Bijapur, Bijapur Police Station, and BDS team jointly conducted a demining duty. During the search, the soldiers noticed an electric wire on the side of the road. Suspecting something amiss, the area was immediately cordoned off, and an intensive search was carried out.
During the search, the security forces found an IED, weighing about 10 kilograms, hidden in a steel tiffin box. It was connected to an electric wire approximately 70 to 80 meters long. The BDS team, with caution and expertise, carefully defused the explosive. A video of the explosive being destroyed has also emerged.
According to officials, this plan by the Naxalites was intended to harm the soldiers and civilians. However, due to the alertness of the security forces, a major accident was averted, and the Naxalites’ plans were thwarted.
